Driving Regulations and Fines in Bugaria

· up to 10 km/h – 10 levs.
· from 11 to 20 km/h – 30 levs
· from 21 to 30 km/h – 100 levs
· from 31 to 40 km/h – 150 levs + driving license is taken for 1 month
· from 41 to 50 km/h – 200 levs + driving license is taken for 2 month
· above 51 km/h – 250 levs + driving license is taken for 3 month
Fines for over speeding outside residential areas:
· up to 10 km/h – 10 levs
· from 11 to 20 km/h – 30 levs
· from 21 to 30 km/h – 50 levs
· from 31 to 40 km/h – 100 levs + driving license is taken for 1 month
· from 41 to 50 km/h – 150 levs + два driving license is taken for 2 month
· above 51 km/h – 200 levs + driving license is taken for 3 month
· Driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics is absolutely forbidden.
· For alcohol levels in the blood between 0,5 and 1,2 the driving license is suspended for a period from 1 to 12 months and the fine is between 200 and 500 levs.
For drivers with experience less than 2 years the driving license is suspended for 2 to 12 months and the fine is from 300 to 600 levs.
For a second offense the driving license is taken from 1 to 3 years and the fine is from 1000 to 2000 levs.
· If your insurance policy is missing the fine is 50 levs.If the sticker on the front windows is present but the policy is missing the fine is 10 levs.
· The fine for transporting more people than allowed capacity is 50 levs.
· Driving in the BUS lane will cost you 20levs
· Transporting children without the required equipment will bring you a fine of 50levs
· Driving without seat belt will cost you 50 levs
· The car MUST be equipped with light reflecting triangle, first aid kit , fire extinguisher and light reflecting vest
